Designed to notify security personnel as quickly as possible in cases of theft, physical assault, or sexual harassment involving patients, visitors, or staff, and to direct them to the scene.
In the event of a possible assault or harassment inside the hospital or on the premises, during or outside working hours, the security observation room is contacted.
From there, an announcement is made via radio to direct the nearest security personnel to the incident location.
If a single person cannot resolve the incident, Code 1111 is activated, mobilizing all available security personnel via radio.
The individual(s) causing the incident are removed from the area.
In legal cases, the hospital police are notified.
The hospital police carry out the necessary procedures.
Staff who witness or are involved in such an incident complete an incident report form to inform the hospital administration of the situation for patient and staff safety.
The administration reviews the report and, if necessary, submits a corrective action report to the chief medical officer.
In some locations, this is also referred to as a Black Code.
