The Blue Code call button allows nurses to initiate an emergency call. It is used in critical situations such as loss of consciousness, respiratory arrest, or cardiac and/or circulatory arrest. The first person who finds or witnesses the patient in distress presses the nearest Blue Code button to trigger the emergency alert. The nurse call display shows the Blue Code alert along with the location of the unit from which the call originated.
